Alan Bean may not be the most talented painter in the world, but he’s got one hell of a hook: “the only artist to have walked on the moon.” That’s enough to get some space fans to pay out as much as $175,000 for pieces depicting his NASA experience on Apollo 12 nearly forty years ago. Bean, now 77, will have many of his paintings on display at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington starting in July.

And while we’re having fun remembering outer space, let’s not forget this classic photo of former pop star and almost-cosmonaut Lance Bass. Remembering is fun. Oh, what’s that? You want more? How about this live performance of *NSync’s “Space Cowboys” circa late 1990′s.
