A video from BBC News reports on the first-ever Fine Art goodwill ambassador for the UN, Ross Bleckner. He’s spearheading an initiative in northern Uganda to ease the trauma of former child soldiers using art therapy. Some pictures these children produce are available for viewing and sale at the UN headquarters in NYC– money raised funds the continuation of this worthwhile project. Check [...]

The Washington Post reports that Victor Pinchuk, Ukraine’s wealthiest man and an avid art collector, has organized a large retrospective of Damien Hirst‘s work in Kiev. Thoughtful review of MoMA’s “Into the Sunset…” exhibit

I’ve read quite a few reviews of the new MoMA exhibit “Into the Sunset: Photography’s Image of the American West,” but I would recommend the slide-show essay by Sarah Boxer at Slate. There’s an enjoyable article titled “On the Path of Walker Evans” by Laura Holson in the Escapes section of The New York Times today. The author travels through the small towns in Alabama where Evans, during the depression era, took photographs that offer poignant social commentary from that period. The slideshow that accompanies this article contains ”Roadside Stand [...]

I’m a big fan of the current exhibition at Gitterman Gallery featuring vintage works by the photographer Robert D’Alessandro. The images were collectively apart of the 1973 book Glory, and depict individual associations with the American flag during that tumultuous period. I promise to work on writing unique reviews, but want to share The New [...]
